The 2017 School Councils Conference and AGM is April 28 - 30 at the Delta Edmonton South.

One of the most important events for parents on school council is the ASCA Conference and Annual General Meeting.


Held each spring at the end of April (usually the third weekend), some 350 delegates from across the province come together to share issues, participate in learning sessions and develop policy for the association. In addition, elections to the Board of Directors takes place.



The three day event starts on a Friday with registration, Resource Gallery exhibits, pre-sessions, and a welcome social. A (very) full Saturday agenda starts with breakfast, plenary and breakout sessions, address from the Education Ministry, lunch, preparation for the AGM and elections, and an evening awards banquet.



A resource gallery is presented, with over 30 exhibitors displaying products, services and information of value for parents in public education.



Sunday's business meeting starts early, after breakfast, and continues until all resolutions proposed for policy are debated and voted upon, as well as election of the new governing Board.

All school councils with current ASCA membership are eligible to send parent representatives to vote on behalf of the school council at the ASCA Annual General Meeting.
